Business continuity planning (or business continuity and resiliency planning) is the process of creating systems of prevention and recovery to deal with potential threats to an organisation. An organisation’s resistance to failure is “the ability … to withstand changes in its environment and still function”. Often called resilience, it is a capability that enables organisations to either endure environmental changes without having to permanently adapt, or the organisation is forced to evolve to a new way of working that better suits its new environmental conditions.

Crisis Management is a structured and systematic way of managing critical situations for which no planned solutions have been developed but still require strategic and operational response patterns that will optimally preserve the interests and assets of the organisation. Information security is the practice of protecting information by mitigating information risks. It involves measures to prevent and mitigate the impacts of unauthorised access, use, disclosure, disruption, deletion, destruction, corruption, modification, inspection and the recording or devaluation of information assets.
